John Mulrenan has had a long and varied career in the music business. He began by forming the band "Rasputin and the Mad Monks" in the mid-sixties, while majoring on classical piano in college.They went on to play such hallowed venues as Carnegie Hall, Trudy Heller's, Onganos, the Cheetah, Steve Paul's Scene, and Harlowe's in Manhattan's best club era. Godzilla was the next group. An improvisational twin guitar,loud band. They had the pleasure of opening up for Bruce Springsteen's band, Steel Mill, a few times and were a staple on the Jersey Shore club scene. He then formed "Hudson County", a funk band that went on to sign with RCA. They had a chart record with "Heaven's Here On Earth"
During the 70's and 80's John toured with English blues legend Long John Baldry. Also, Benny Mardones, whose record "Into The Night", was the only record to hit the top ten twice. John then played synth for the hit making group Musique.. After many years on the road John decided to devote more time to song writing and home life so he developed his unique single act, incorporating the latest technologies, to entertain in a more intimate, personal fashion. He has often been referred to as one of the most consistently working acts with over 30 years of playing full time. John's singing style has been compared to everyone from Ray Charles to Bob Seegar with a little Tom Jones thrown in. His emotional style, wide repertoire, and obvious experience recommend him to anyone seeking a consummate professional. "I have played everything from biker bars to Bar Mitzvah's.
